2. Chewing Gum

Don’t swallow it when you read this, but chewing gum is one of the things made from petroleum. Starting way back in the 1920s, that same petroleum product, paraffin, only more refined, was used to make penny chewing gum by a candy maker in New York. Modern manufacturers list the ingredient gum base on their wrapper, but that gum base is made of petroleum and other ingredients.
