3. Aviation Maintenance Technician
Aviation maintenance technicians inspect and maintain aircraft and make sure that they meet all FAA regulations. Work is done both in and out of doors on every type of aircraft and technicians work in shifts to guarantee 24-hour coverage.
Following high school graduation, a student interested in being an aviation maintenance technician must take courses approved by the Federal Aviation Association for about 12 to 24 months. Military experience is often helpful in preparation for testing on the classwork.
How to Prepare:
Vocational school courses in mechanical repairs and technology courses are good preparation for this transportation career.
